Roth, James L., Sr. (P3, C1, L38)

James Roth from group pix m2p_p17Technical Sergeant James Lawrence Roth, Sr., of Louisville, Jefferson County, a member of the 123rd Consolidated Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Kentucky Air National Guard, died of a heart attack at approximately 9:50 a.m. on 14 June 1989 while at work at the Air Base. Immediate aid was given but attempts to revive him were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at Humana Hospital – Audubon, Louisville.

Roth was a full-time technician and Noncommissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) of the machine shop at the Kentucky Air National Guard base at the time of his death.

Roth joined the Marine Corps in July 1966 as a private and was promoted to Sergeant before he left the Marine Corps in July 1970 as an aircraft structural mechanic. He joined the Kentucky Air National Guard in June 1973 following his active duty with the United States Marine Corps.

His awards and decorations include: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Air Crew Insignia, Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and Air Medal with two devices.

Roth was buried in the Evergreen Cemetery, Louisville. Newspaper obituaries in the Courier-Journal list him as James L. Roth, Sr.
