Railey, Sam L.(P2, C3, L39)
Private First Class Sam L. Railey was born 9 March 1916, in Crittenden County, Kentucky. He served with Company I, 149th Infantry, Kentucky National Guard. Railey was killed in action on Luzon Island, Philippine Islands on 23 March 1945. He is buried in the Rosebud Cemetery, Crittenden County, Kentucky.

The body of Pfc. Sam Railey, a member of Company L, 38th Division, of Marion, who was killed on Luzon, March 23, 1945, will arrive in Sturgis in about three weeks, according to word received by his sister, Mrs. K. L. Brightman today from the War Department in Washington. Young [Railey] was 29 years of age when killed and was well known in the city and county.
