Holcomb, Darrell James (P2, C2, L31)

Holcomb, DJ 001 - CopyStaff Sergeant Darrell J. Holcomb was born 28 January 1912, at Pebworth, Owsley County, Kentucky. He enlisted in the Kentucky National Guard’s Company F, 149th Infantry at Booneville on 30 September 1940. He was living at Levi, Owsley County, Kentucky, at the time of his enlistment. He was inducted in federal service on 20 January 1941.

Holcomb was relieved from active duty and returned to state control on 23 October 1941. He was recalled to active duty on 24 January 1942. Holcomb was killed in action, 8 February 1945. He is buried in the Pendergrass Cemetery, Owsley County, Kentucky.Holcomb Darrell J headstone
