Private Willard Emmal Foster, 18, of Mercer, County, Kentucky, joined the Harrodsburg National Guard unit some time before they were activated in November 1940. He was taken prisoner on 9 April 1941 and survived the Death March. He was held at Camp O'Donnell and Cabanatuan #1. He died of dysentery on 1 June 1942. He is buried at the Manila American Cemetery in Manila, Philippines.
