Davis, Wallis Edwin (P2, C2, L10)

Davis, W. E 001Chief Warrant Officer Wallis E. Davis was born 15 October 1921, in Hopkinsville, Christian County, Kentucky. He enlisted in the Machine Gun Troop, 123rd Cavalry, Kentucky National Guard, at Hopkinsville, on 2 June 1937. In 1940 his unit was re-designated as Battery A, 106th Separate Battalion, Coast Artillery (Anti-Aircraft). He was inducted into federal service on 6 January 1941. He was killed in action on 18 May 1945, while serving with the 473rd Infantry Regiment, he is buried in the Florence American Cemetery, Florence, Italy.
